Setup

Preparing your deck, play area, and starting hand.

Before the first card is played, both players need to prepare their components, arrange the board, and draw their opening hand. This page walks you through everything — what you need, how to build it, and how to lay it all out.

What You Need

Every player brings the same core components to the table. The required items are non-negotiable; the accessories just make the experience smoother.

Note

Your Chosen Champion and Legend must share the same name. Your Champion is a card inside your Main Deck but is played from the Chosen Champion zone — your Legend is a separate card placed face-up that grants your passive ability. They work together as your identity.

Recommended Accessories

These aren't required but meaningfully improve the experience:

Score Tracker	Monitor each player's points — first to 8 wins
Playmat	Defines zones clearly and protects your cards
Card Sleeves	Protect cards and ensure consistent shuffling

Setting Up

Follow these steps in order. Both players perform each step simultaneously unless noted.

Prepare Your Rune Deck

Separate your 12 Rune cards from your Main Deck and place them face-down in your Rune Deck zone. These are never shuffled into your Main Deck.

Place Your Legend

Set your Legend card face-up in the Legend zone. It remains visible throughout the entire game — your opponent should always be able to read it.

Set Your Chosen Champion

Find your Chosen Champion inside your Main Deck and place it face-up in the Champion zone.

Lay Out the Battlefields

Select one of youre three Battlefield cards and place it in the center of the play area face down. Reveal after your opponent selects theirs. These are shared objectives — both players will contest them.

Shuffle Your Main Deck

Thoroughly shuffle your remaining 39-card Main Deck and place it face-down in your deck zone. Offer your opponent a cut.

Decide Who Goes First

Determine the first player — coin flip, dice roll, or mutual agreement.

Draw Your Opening Hand

Each player draws 4 cards. If you are unhappy with your hand, you may mulligan up to 2 cards — recycle them to the bottom of the main deck, draw how ever many you recycled.
